Robbie Nissen is the owner of Nissen Patent, and is a lawyer, patent agent, and trademark agent. His primary focus is on patent prosecution – a field in which he has almost 10 years of experience. He also practises in all areas of intellectual property law including trademarks, industrial designs, trade secrets, copyright, and related litigation. Robbie was recently counsel in a Federal Court case that clarified the level of deference giving to findings of fact made by patent examiners. Robbie is also the chair of the Intellectual Property North Section of the Canadian Bar Association, and is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. In his youth Robbie attended the University of Alberta on a full athletic scholarship for track and field and represented Canada in international competition. During university he was awarded the gold medal in Chemistry and distinction in Law. Robbie spends most of his free time enjoying the company of his wife and two young children.
